About the company
Today we are introducing Siesta Labs! They are a Czech innovation laboratory and startup incubator focusing on digital solutions, growth hacking and fast execution. Simply said – they offer expertise in launching and growing startups! We spoke to Mikoláš Belec, the Chief Executive Officer at Siesta Labs, who kindly explained to us what they are all about!
When asked “What is it like to work at Siesta Labs?” Mikoláš responded that “Siesta has started its story as a startup enterprise of several friends working together and has organically grown into a wider group of people who like working together and have similar life values. We have just recently officialized this concept into friends and family company culture we are now honing”.
Mikoláš says it’s a cliche, but the team’s and each employee’s diversity is what makes Siesta Labs so special. He finds his colleagues unique in their own, special ways and makes sure Siesta Lab is a workplace where such individuality is celebrated and appreciated.
Mikoláš revealed that for his team at Siesta Labs, quality of work is their highest priority and what they take the most pride in. Other than that, they always make sure that everyone in the company is fulfilled and gets along with the rest of the team. “Siesta Lab’s employees share common interests, goals and values”, he says.
During the interview, we had a chance to learn more about Siesta Lab’s “villa”, which is a place where Siesta’s employees can work from. “We enjoy working together and spending time in our beautiful villa”, says Mikoláš. He points out that while this is an option, they still have remote and hybrid working employees all over the world. “Generally, we try to meet everyone’s individual needs and try to give people as much freedom as possible for the position/project. After all, mutual satisfaction is the key to long-term cooperation”, he adds.
Mikoláš also mentioned that the IT market is depleted in terms of candidates and Siesta Labs is getting more and more business opportunities. He says that Siesta Labs is prepared for more frequent requests from candidates for remote/hybrid working. It’s also one of their goals to be sufficiently linguistically equipped to work with more non-Czech speaking candidates, despite being a Czech startup.
We wanted to find out more about the hiring and recruitment processes at Siesta Labs. Mikoláš admitted they depend on the position. Since the company is small, they can allow themselves to deal with each position individually and differently. “Generally, each candidate will go through an initial screening with HR, which is usually conducted online. After that, they meet with a particular manager – a potential supervisor. We try to keep the process as quick and flexible as possible” he explained.
When asked about the best way to apply with Siesta Labs, he jokingly answers that “All roads read to Rome – aka to HR in this case”! Whether a person responds through an advert, contacts them through their website, social media or is recommended through a referral, the CV always gets into the right hands!
