About the company
This week we are introducing Skillwork! They help clients navigate the digital world, explore potential solutions and seamlessly build digital products.
To find out more about the company culture and hiring processes, we spoke to Ali Youssef, the Co-Founder of Skillwork. He explained to us that their mission is to build outstanding, innovative products through a happy and talent-dense engineering culture.
“What makes our company unique is that we believe that true innovation comes from a happy and talent-dense culture. As such our company culture is the key to this”, said Ali.
We wanted to find out what really differentiates them from other workplaces. “We specifically focus on ensuring we motivate, grow, and nurture our people, to ensure better outcomes, continuity for clients, and predictability across engagements” explained Ali.
If the digital world sounds like your world, you might be wondering what’s it like to work at Skillwork? Their co-founder summarises it in one sentence – “Working at our company is like being a part of a collaborative community.”
The best way to describe the environment is by looking at who works there; “we are a diverse group of techies, entrepreneurs, and business specialists with years of experience in delivering innovation to clients, from startups to corporates” said Ali.
“Because of the diversity of our team, everyone is exposed to different areas of both our business and our client’s business. You can be an engineer but also have a key stake in business decisions that are made and vice versa.”
Many companies introduced in the #PitchmeEmployersIntro series are working remotely. Skillwork’s co-founder firmly believes that providing remote work opportunities is one of the most important hiring trends in 2022. Hence, everyone at Skillwork has the ability to choose between remote and office-based work.
Additionally, Skillwork provides continual professional development, clear promotion scales, paid trainings, mentoring and regular team events. “We believe that the only way to succeed is by ensuring our staff are happy and love what they are doing so that we can enable them to be innovators and not just engineers” concluded Ali.

“We pride ourselves in our recruitment process” stated Ali and explained the process in detail;
“Interview #1: A meeting with our co-founders, where we mostly speak about who we are and use this as an opportunity to get to know each other. If we think they are a good fit, we will invite them to do a technical task or have a technical conversation with our CTO
Interview #2: If a technical task was given, then the candidate will use this interview to present their work and have an open-ended conversation with our CTO.
Afterwards, the candidate should expect a status update on their application.”
